A FLIP THROUGH THE DAILY MIRROR

Upon reading an issue of the Daily Mirror, I noticed that it very much reminded me of a People magazine. To be honest I have not read a physical newspaper in a long time and was surprised on the content on the pages.

I am used to reading the Wall Street Journal and New York Times online and was expecting to find similar news content among the Daily Mirror pages. The news was have tabloid and half regular news stories. The most surprising and refreshing thing I noticed was that there was hardly any mention of politics.

When I think of the newspaper, I think of politics as that is what generally floods most of the pages. It was refreshing to flip through the pages and find news stories that interested me, especially since I am interested in entertainment news.

Entertainment news generally seems to stay in magazines or online locations unless it is a heading-breaking news story. One story in the Daily Mirror that I found especially interesting was one about “The Apprentice”.

I remember watching that show when I was younger with my family and Donald Trump was ‘the boss’. I had no idea that Britain also had an apprentice show and it was strange seeing the show talked about with a different ‘boss’. The article about the show was talking about how the show is not doing well, naming the piece, “How long until the apprentice is fired”.

Again, not the kind of story one would find in any US newspaper but refreshing to see on the page.
