WARNER BROS HAS DONE IT AGAIN

‘Warner Brothers has done it again’

Those words seem to roll out of my mouth time and time again. Specifically speaking of 2018, “A Star is Born” completely stole my heart and I’ll be cheering that film on throughout the upcoming awards circuit in the new year.

The film surprised me that it came from the beloved production company as it seemed to be a step out from the content I am used to from them. If one were to scroll through the extensive list of films released from the studio just this year, one can see that the range of films seem to fall within two categories: action thrillers and comedies. The company used to produce many more straight dramatic films, but their recent lineups have leaned in a different direction.

Warner Bros top six grossing films of 2018 so far:

  1. A Star is Born
  2. Crazy Rich Asians
  3. The Meg
  4. Oceans 8
  5. Ready Player One
  6. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

All the movies listed are all quite different from one another, but “A Star is Born” stands alone.

Being the second remake of a classic film, the newest edition has struck a chord with all generations, but specifically the younger generation that may not have been familiar with the original.

The musical drama has a serious shot at Oscar glory at the 2019 awards ceremony and “Crazy Rich Asians” may even get some applause as well. This years Warner Brothers releases proved to be the usual suspects for the company but with the addition of a black sheep.

With the film’s great success, I hope it leads to more steps out of the box for the ever-growing company.
